Summers and spring are the perfect seasons to visit Mexico's premier wine country in Guadalupe Valley featuring the Nations top winerires located outside Ensenada. It's less than a two hour drive south of San Diego on the Scenic Toll from Tijuana to Ensenada. If you haven't discovered Baja California's "silent revolution" in creating world class wines of Ensenada winerires, you're really missing out! This hidden "garden of Eden" is located in a beautiful, rural region, abundant with surprises and undiscovered treasures. The area offers gourmet culinary delights, charming and romantic lodging, excellent wines and friendly residents from all over the world. Mexico's wine industry is emerging and creating wines that are awakening and surprising the most sophisticated wine enthusiasts in the region and internationally. Come spend a day or two and experience "new world" wines with the "old world" charm of Mexico.

The wine country is located about seventy miles south of San Diego and can be accessed by heading south on the Tijuana-Ensenada toll road to the last collection station before the seaport of Ensenada. About one mile south of that toll station look for the sign Tecate Highway 3 or Ruta del Vino (Wine Route) and travel east on Highway 3 for seven miles until you drop down into the Baja wine country at San Antonio de las Minas. This is the western end of the Guadalupe Valley wine region which extends fourteen miles east towards Tecate ending near Km 73.5 at L.A. Cetto and Domecq wineries.

BODEGAS DE SANTO TOMAS:

Mexico’s oldest Winery, know how they elaborate, process and age the wine and of the tour you will visit the tasting room where you will be able to enjoy more than 26 different wines with bread and cheese.

Take a guided tour around the facilities and discover the art of wine-making and wine-tasting, here on town of Ensenada.

MONTE XANIC:

One of the most recent of Ensenada wineries, it has made a name for itself among fine Mexican wines by achieving a high level of quality with the most modern technology in cultivation and vinification. It’s about 40 minutes form here, way to Tecate on Valle de Guadalupe. Tours every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9am to 11:30am. If there is a group about 50 persons if will purchase per bottle; or if is not will purchase $2.00dlls per person that will be discount if you buy a bottle.

CASA PEDRO DOMECQ:

Located only 32 kms., or 20 miles from Ensenada, are the Domecq Winery and the vineyards of the Calafia Valley. Winery Tour and Wine

DOMECQ’S FINE WINE BOUTIQUE:

The boutique sells all the products produced and distributed by Domecq. Wine tasting for individuals and groups are by appointment. The Domecq Boutique is centrally located at 149 Ave. Ruiz in Ensenada.

CHATEU CAMOU:

You must have reservation one day before with Dr. Pedro Martinez or Claudia Castaņeda for a tour.

CAVAS VALMAR:

A result of the union of two families, this small Ensenada winery is building a solid reputation based on great effort and enthusiasm. Its wines are now exported to the United States and Europe. Reservation for a tour call to Ing. Fernando Martain or Yolanda de Martain : Monday to Friday, and Saturday and Sunday by previous appointment.
